Forged Steel Rolls
Forged steel rolls are core components of rolling mills manufactured by forging and heat‑treating alloy steel ingots. They apply pressure to steel materials via the roll surface to induce plastic deformation, and rank among the most critical spare parts for strip rolling.
Core Advantages
- Dense and uniform microstructure with few internal defects. They feature much better toughness, fracture resistance and fatigue resistance than cast rolls, and are less prone to roll breakage and spalling.
- High wear resistance on the surface combined with high toughness in roll core and roll neck, balancing wear resistance and impact resistance.
- Deep hardened layer with uniform hardness, suitable for working conditions of heavy rolling force and high‑speed rolling.
Common Materials ‑ Hot‑rolled forged steel rolls: 60CrMnMo, 60SiMnMo, Cr5, semi‑high‑speed steel, etc. ‑ Cold‑rolled forged steel rolls: 9Cr2Mo, 9Cr3MoV, Cr5, Cr8, etc. Cold‑rolling work rolls have extremely high surface hardness (HSD85‑100).
