A plug valve is a type of valve that controls the flow of media by rotating a cylindrical or conical plug. The plug can be turned 90° to align or block the flow path, providing quick opening and closing, low flow resistance and a compact structure. Plug valves are widely used in water supply and drainage, sewage treatment, oil and gas, chemical industry, HVAC and pipeline systems. They are available in two-way, three-way and four-way designs, and can be used for flow switching and diversion. Seal and body materials should be selected according to medium corrosiveness, temperature and pressure. Common materials include cast iron, cast steel, stainless steel and fluorine-lined versions.
